A casino salon within the former orchid house
Under arched windows and hanging greenery sit eighteen tables, alongside a poker room with a fire and a peaceful lounge for nightcaps between hands. At the centre of the Hotel Tiva estate, the Garden Salon is a graceful, intimate casino.
Made for orchids, saved for evenings
After the estate's orchids relocated to the Great Glasshouse, their former room was far too beautiful to shut away. Today, lofty arched windows, iron pillars and a painted ceiling surround the Garden Salon, where deep green velvet, walnut and brass furnish the casino, lamps remain dim and music stays softer than conversation.
We deliberately keep the salon small. Rather than crowds or a scramble for seats, there are a select number of tables, hosted by dealers who have worked here for years and recognise many returning guests by name. On Fridays and Saturdays, a pianist begins at 20:00, while on warm evenings the doors onto the rose garden terrace remain open.

Each day, the salon begins service at 16:00. Limits appear on every table, and our hosts can gladly suggest a game to fit the kind of evening you are planning.

Beyond the glass doors
The poker room
At the salon's far end, two glazed doors lead into the poker room. Five tables sit around an open fireplace beneath a ceiling painted with winding vines. Cash games begin nightly from 18:00, while a welcoming hotel-guest invitational takes place on the first Saturday each month. Request seats at reception or the salon desk.
The card lounge
A nightcap between games
An entire evening need not happen at the table. Off the main floor, the sofa-lined card lounge serves Potting Shed drinks and Orangery small plates until 01:00. Its doors lead to a terrace over the rose garden on warm nights, offering the estate's finest place to see moonlight rise above the glasshouse.

If games are new to you, you are far from alone. Before the salon becomes busy, our dealers offer easygoing blackjack and roulette lessons daily at 17:00. Each session takes around forty minutes, costs nothing for hotel guests and uses practice chips, leaving only the rules to learn.
Before your visit, a few details
- Adults only may enter the salon, with photo ID checked at the door each evening.
- Smart casual attire is required. Sportswear and swimwear should be kept for the pool.
- Phones may be used in the lounge, but please silence them at tables.
- No photography is allowed on the gaming floor.
- You may also visit solely for the music and the room itself.
